Eating out with kids on St Mary's

We are a young family (2 adults + 7yr old + 10month baby) staying at the Old Town Inn on St Mary's for 3 days at the end of July and am concerned about eating out in the evening. I want to make sure where we go is suitable for kids but also serves nice food as we love to eat out!

Can anyone recommend anywhere and do we need to book our meals out in advance with it being summer? Thank you very much

One place worth considering is The Boatshed at Porthmellon, it is one of our regulars when visiting Scilly. Good quality food and if you're lucky fantastic sunsets over Samson. They welcome children but only early evening. Another place that you could try which is very near to where you are staying is the Tolman Cafe although we haven't been for a couple of years so can't offer an opinion on the food.

The Kavorna in Hugh Town also offers quite nice food in a relaxed atmosphere.

Either way wherever you choose booking is essential.

Enjoy!!

You'll probably be aware that the Old Town Inn serves food. Things do change but we had a few meals there and we don't normally go back anywhere if it wasn't good the first time. For some places it is worth booking as they can fill up quite quickly. But I'd expect as you are staying at the Inn that they would sort something out for you if a problem

The Tolman cafe in Old Town, st Mary's also is a decent place for food and would be child friendly too. We enjoyed a meal there and I also found the food at the Atlantic Inn to be fine too.

We've also had very nice food at "Dibble & Grub" which is in the old fire station overlooking Porthcressa beach.

There were quite a few children eating at Juliets Garden this week and the children's menu was also somewhat different from what you normally get. We thoroughly enjoyed it and found it better than Kavorna.

It's been a while since I stayed on St Mary's itself so can't recommend particular places but Scilly is very family friendly and the standard of food is generally very good. At any time other than low season booking ahead is advised. You'll have a great time, Scilly is a lovely place for a family holiday.

Julluettes is lovely but with young children it's got to be spirit restaurant at stmarys hall that is open from noon until 10 pm with proper children's food not just chips and they are so welcoming best eat in the bar as very relaxed also you must try the fruit jucies they are fab
