eep Creek Campground review?

We have an October RV trip to Deep Creek Campground first week of October. no kids this time so we don't ant to do the Pidgeon Crek touristy stuff. Any ideas of what to see and do? Anyone ever stayed at this campground?

I have stayed there. It is only a mile or 2 outside of Bryson City NC, which has the Great Smoky Mt Railway. Hiking up the Deep Creek trail is easy and level along the creek. Many folks tube there in warm weather, but probably not in Oct. There is a nice waterfall (Indian Creek I think) only about a mile or less up the Deep Creek trail....turn right on the Indian Creek trail (I think that's the name) and the falls is immediately on the left.

Bryson Place is about 2 miles up the Deep Creek trail....it's where Horace Kephart camped in the 1930's before the park was created. Nothing much there now, just a campsite with a plaque to his memory (placed by Boy Scouts I believe).

Thanks for the input. Did you find the campground nice? We are booked there for a week and I always get a bit nervous staying at a place I've never been

Nice campground with separate tent and RV sites. Lots of trails and some falls. October colors should be great.

You are just outside of Bryson City with some dining, shopping options as well as the Great Smokey Mt Train Ride. Anyway you go will bring you great backroad travels with small towns, rivers, outdoor options.

I would stay away from Cherokee as it is really focused upon people with poor math skills for the casino.

Dillsboro and Sylvia, Franklin, Waynesville offer quite a number of options, Andrews and Robbinsville not as many but good to visit. The Cherohala Skyway is a great drive with hiking options.

Recommend The Jarrett House in Dillsboro if you enjoy good southern country meals.

Great place for tent camping!

You will love Bryson City in the fall. Pretty color and not touristy like Tennessee - authentic small town. Try the Bryson City chamber of commerce for good info.

We stayed at Deep Creek Campgrounds this weekend! It was clean, quiet, and the owners were very friendly. There were many things for children to play on, the creek was beautiful, the sites were nice and the rest rooms were clean. We enjoyed our stay. There were many Cabins, R.V. Sites, some along the creek, Tent camping, Tubing and a nice store. Bryson City is a small town with several nice restaurants, shops and a train for sightseeing. The Smokey Mountain National Park is next door, beautiful with several hikes and waterfalls.
