Bed & Breakfast Suggestions

Hello! I have been visiting the Gatlinburg forum for awhile now and have found it very helpful in planning a trip there next month. So, with that in mind, I thought I would visit here for some possible advice.

Next spring, my daughter and I are planning an overnight stay in Charlotte. I am mainly interested in B&B's because of their size and amenities. Does anyone have any suggestions of places to stay in Charlotte or northward anywhere along the way from Charlotte to Salisbury? I am looking for a room that would be no more than around $125.00.

Thanks for any help anyone can give me!

Sorry to tell you, but Charlotte is not really a "bed and breakfast" type of city. I only know of three- Morehead Inn, Duke Mansion ( both centrally located in the old Dilworth/Myers Park neighborhoods) and both not in your price range. Also- Van Landingham Estate is mostly a corporate property and not in a great area - although it is the "northern" most of the three.

Charlotte is a corporate, business town as well as a sports destination. Consequently you have upscale hotels serving the business community and the motels serving a lot of the sports crowd. It's not really a "genteel" destination.

Now, once you get to Salisbury there are a few B & B's but I know nothing about them and have never known anyone who stayed in them. To me , the only reason to go to Salisbury is either the geneology collection at the library or to pass through on the way to Greensboro. It has an interesting little downtown and a nearby train museum in Spencer, but it is not much of a destination.

Cabarrus County ( Concord and Kannapolis) is between Charlotte and Salisbury. I think there may be a couple of B & Bs there but again, I don't know about them- that area is NASCAR country and Concord Mills Mall so it has a plethora of motels and camping facilities.

Perhaps someone can offer info about a place I don't know. Best wishes and safe travel.
