How long of a drive between towns?

We will be staying in Duck during peak season (August). What is the time frame to drive from one town to the next. We would like to take a day trip north to see wild horses. As well as south to Kitty Hawk and nags head to tour those towns. Any estimate on how long the drive would take to these towns from duck as well as if we can expect to find parking.

Thanks

Duck, Southern Shores, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, Nags Head are each 5 miles long (give or take a 1/2 mile) and they all touch the next so do the math, it won't take long once you get to Kitty Hawk to go to Nags Head (10 miles). The 2 lane from Kitty up to Duck is 5 miles and can take 20-30 min on a Saturday in July/Aug. Sunday is not much of an issue and during the week the traffic is not much. Duck to Nags Head would be 15+ miles and can be done in 25 min or less depending on how many stop lights you get.

If you want to see the wild horses you will need 4 wheel drive and some knowledge of how to drive on the sand you can rent a 4X4 or take a tour .

Do it during the week and it will take you about 10 mins to kitty hawk 20 mins to Nags Head and 15-20 to Corolla to see the horses. Definitely not on a Sat. Traffic is horrible all the way from the bridge up to Corolla on Sat.
