Emerald Isle in October

Looking for suggestions for activities to do with a 5 and 7 year old in October. Is it warm enough to swim in the ocean?

We normally get our first cool snap in late October. The water may still be fine depending what time of the month you are arriving.

I know there are several places in EI for kids, but I am not an expert on that exact area. There is a good place called "The Golfin Dolphin" across the bridge in Cape Carteret. They have putt-putt, bowling, arcade, etc. To get there from the beach just drive across the bridge and take a right at the light. Then turn left at the first light by the Hardees. The place is down that road.

October is our favorite time of the year. The water is perfect, in my opinion. Still warm and lovely days, cooler evenings. THe fishing is fantastic.

The children would enjoy the Aquarium in Pine Knoll Shores. Mac Daddy's is an entertainment mecca for kids in Cape Carteret.. Movie theatre in Emerald Isle. THre is a pirates weekend but I am not sure of the date in Beaufort. Fort Macon is interesting to walk through. Ferry to Bear Island, Hammocks Beach Sate Park, great place to shell and explore, plus ferry experience.
