Staying for first time in Frisco

My family and I are staying in Frisco for the 1st time in May 2014. Does anyone have some do's or don'ts for the time we will be there? We will be staying near the now shut down pier. I know we want to see the wild horses because my daughter is in love with horses of any kind. Thank you for any suggestions you have.

You can go to the ferry over to Ocracoke. The horses are in a big field there now, that is to keep them from getting hit by cars. If you can get kayak to use on sound side, that's fun. Climb the lighthouse at hatteras. Go to Graveyard of Atlantic museum, it's free.
