Fishing Pier

My husband likes to fish directly on the beach or from a pier. Are there any piers on or close to Hatteras Island? Free or fee? Any "hot spots" you would be willig to share? Not particularly interested in charters. Thanks.

A book I have about the Outer Banks lists the following Piers on Hatteras; Hatteras Island Fishing Pier, N.C. Hwy. 12, Rodanthe 252 987 2323

Avon Golf and Fishing Pier; 252 995 5480

Cape Hatteras Pier; Frisco; 252 986 2533

We have always enjoyed fishing the inlet between Hatteras and Ocracoke; We wade out into the water about waist deep and fish from there. We have always done this from the Ocracoke side but have never tried from the Hatteras side. Don't try when the tide is on the move or you will only catch weeds.

Try this site for more information;
