There are some rides and water slide here at HB...not sure what is available for that age range. A day trip to the NC Aquarium @ fort fisher would be fun...if you are driving take the ferry in Southport and some old bread and you can feed the birds off the ferry on way. My favorite seafood places are The Seafood Barn, Betty's, and Provisions. The little Chinese place next to Food Lion is good also.

We just arrived back from Holden Beach and loved every minute of it.

Holden is very family oriented, yet don't expect alot of commercialism (as it is very laid back).

Some activities that I would suggest for your children (age 4, 2 and 2);

-Go fishing (crabbing)

-Bicycling (rentals are available if needed)

-Enjoy the beach (go shell hunting, fly a kite, if you don't have beach toys/chairs, etc. these items are avail for rent as well, check into turtle watch program)

-Summer Concerts on Sundays (under the bridge/at the pavillion/6:30pm)

-Just over the bridge there are a few other items you might check into (as mentioned above)

We rented a house so we did not eat out often but a few of our favorites:

Provision Company: provisioncompany.com/provision-company-holde… (not fancy by any means but very tasty)

Paradise Cafe:

http://www.paradisehb.com/ (we ordered take-out for lunch)

Haley's Ice Cream (eat your ice cream inside or we preferred out on the deck over looking the beach)

The Purple Onion: not in Holden but in Shallotte (about 15 mins away) but worth the drive for breakfast (we ate here 3 different times). Make sure to bring back some bakery items with you.

Captain Pete's Fish Market: if you are looking for fresh fish to prepare at home (friendly staff and great fish) - located right behind Captain Pete's Restaurant.

Enjoy~

p.s. lather up real good on the sunscreen because the next couple of days are going to be scorchers
