Good hikes around Lake Lure (other than Chimney Rock)?

We'll be making a weekend trip to Lake Lure in a few weeks, and I'd love to know if anyone can share tips on some good Moderate level trails in the close vicinity?

I really do love Chimney Rock, but we've done that several times and find it to be a touch pricey. I'd love to take my kids to a waterfall if possible. Does anyone have a recommendation?

Thanks!

There are 3 nice waterfalls in the Saluda/Tyron area. Maybe 20 miles from Lake Lure. Pearson Falls, Bradley Falls and Little Bradley Falls. All have a trail to them less than 1 mile in length. Visit www.ncwaterfalls.com for pictures and directions.

There are a lot of great hikes around Lake Lure! The best way to get all of the information is to get the hiking guide book. Its called a Hiker's Guide to the Hickory Nut Gorge by Nate Ballinger and Ryan Lubbers. Have fun!

I recommend Dupont and Little Bradley!

DuPont Forest offers several very different , very impressive waterfalls, some trial will be almost unused. I would refrain from Bradley Falls in early spring. it can be quite slippery going and we lose a hiker there every few years. Alternatively, go North to Linville...Linville Cavern, Linville Falls, Linville Gorge.

Big Bradley Falls is dangerous and where people die... not Little Bradley.
