Where have you stayed?

We are thinking about going to Maggie Valley in April for Spring Break. We usually go to Gatlinburg but i wanted to go somewhere different for a change. I've been to Maggie Valley but it's been a while and i've never stayed overnight before. I know some of you visit alot so i'm curious where you like to stay or if you could offer any suggestions.

Hey Gatorgurl,

Are you planned to stay several days, or just one or two? There are several options, including cabin rentals or hotels.

One of the cabin rentals places that I like to recommend is Boyd Mountain Cabins and Christmas Tree Farm. It's a beautiful farm, the cabins authentic and the owners are very nice.

Smoky Falls Lodge has recently remodeled and it looks great from the road.

Most of the hotels get good reviews. I had a be experience at the Scottish Inn. I'd recommend staying away from there.

For Bed & Breakfasts, I'd recommend Timberwolf Creek B&B. I've had their website in my favorites for a long time. Sandee obviously takes great pride in her business and works hard to make sure her guests are pleased.

I hope some of this helps!

Thanks for the info....I will check out some of your suggestions. We are planning on staying a whole week. I am a little disappointed that Ghost Town doesn't open until May. It was one of the reasons i wanted to stay in Maggie Valley.

Yeah, sorry about that, too. There's still lots to do in the area, though. Let me know if you want some help.

I also want to take my kids on the GSMR. Which excursion do you think would be more interesting. I've been before but i was a teenager so it's been a while.

To tell the truth, we are taking our first excursion this Thanksgiving. We are riding the Polar Express with the kids. They have hot chocolate and read christmas stories during the ride, and they stop at the "North Pole" and have a chance to meet Santa.

We went into Dillsboro last month and checked out the depot and around town. It looks really fun!

Wow - kind words about our place! (And yes, we have cabins, too.) I was born in Gainesville FL, so totally relate to the 'gatorgurl' ID. Fun.

We stayed in several places before moving here to open the B&B and cabins. Really depends on what you're after. If you want a weekly cabin with seclusion, privacy and luxury, we're happy to provide!

If you're looking for something inexpensive, consider a cabin rental in a "string" of cabins such as Misty Mountain or Twin Brook cabins. If you're just looking for a place to lay your head, by all means, choose one of the motels on the 'strip'. They'll be your least expensive option and to the best of my knowledge, all are clean and well-kept. Private ownership means folks around here take pride in their properties, and it shows. That goes for the four B&Bs in Maggie, the eleventy bazillion rental cabins, and the several dozen motels. Hard to go wrong!

We have stayed at Mountain Joy cottages. They are rustic but well equiped w/ furniture, kitchen, fireplace and nice beds. Maggie's actual home is one of the cottages that Maggie Valley is named. You can find the at mountainjoy.com

enjoy

Check out Premier Vacation Rentals. They have 90 homes/cabins that are privately owned including ours. They do an excellent job with finding something that fits your particular request. Just go to their website to see what they have.

We found Maggie Valley by accident 4 years ago. I love the quiet town and beautiful surroundings. We stay at Water's Edge in middle of Maggie Calley. This a is small motel by the creek. Very reasonable. You can also pull in your camper or stay in one of their small trailers. The owner, John and his family are wonderful people.

This is also a pet friendly motel. Phone # 828 926-1801.

Tell them the Nolan's sent you.

Water's Edge also has a house, across the creek. Sleeps 6 or 8.

This lodging is VERY reasonable. Plus house is by itself. No other lodging on that side of creek.

Motel rooms, 2 beds Approx $60

Trailer, 1 bed sleeps 2, plus fold out couch-Approx $90

Very quiet, on main Hwy. (Soco Rd.) Next to gas station, across from the Auditorium. Just down from Stompin Ground.

It is mostly older guest that pull in their own campers.

But varies in the motel. As I said it is small.

Washer and Dryer on site next to office.

Close to everything in town.

Snappy's and Salty Dog are good places to eat. Good luck find

a place to eat b'fast on Sunday's. Restaurants are ALWAY'S

crowded for b'fast.

As I said. we found this place by sheer accident.

Another great place to go is Cade's Cove. Abt 1 hr away,

you drive thru and see many animals, deer, hawks, turkeys, etc.

Make sure to bring your camera. Ghost Town is back this year.

I will be checking out this week-end. And of course, there's the Casino.
