Ghost Town In The Sky

Has anyone heard updates on the park opening this year? I can't find anything new about a 2011 season.

Ghost Town Phase I is open. You can ride the chairlift and do some zip lining there (we were there on opening day). No news about the other phases yet.

Thanks for that info, Gabi!

We were in town for the 4th (what happened with the fireworks? It seemed they were having trouble), but didn't get a chance to go to GT. I didn't even realize it had opened until we were getting ready to come home.

Here's another very good article about the history of re-opening Ghost Town.

Ghost Town has been bought by Mrs. Alaska Presley. As of July the 4th the parks famous mile high chairlift has been open. A zipline has been added at the bottom of the mountain. 4 treehouses and 3 lines of excitement.

Plans for everything to be up and running in 2013 and a Holy Land in 2014.

Keep up with progress on Facebook Ghost Town or www.ghostowninthesky.com (one T)

My family and I recently visited Ghost Town in The Sky September 2012.. The chair lifts are open and they give you a bus tour of the town.., then let you off the bus in the middle of Ghost Town to talk with "Preacher" while he tells of the rebuilding and the past.. "Injun" comes out of the saloon and they have a small "gun Fight" my kids loved it!! Can't wait til they finish remodeling and open up Jerusalem Town and all the rides again..

According to their website, Western Town is not yet ready to open, and the chairlifts are not running yet.

Quote:

"While Ghost Town in the Sky currently does not have a new set opening date for the park, they have told us that the state inspectors will return soon to approve the opening of the chair lift. The park hopes to have the evacuation route under the chair lift complete by this time as well. The evac route is essentially just a simple cleared dirt road under the chair lift, which is about all you can do given the very steep incline of the terrain up the mountain.

I’ve also been told that it has been determined that the old Inclined Railway will never run again. As an alternate mode of transportation the park is said to be looking into the possibility of adding a new enclosed gondola system that would run up the same basic route, but attempt to stay much lower to the ground for those who don’t care for the height of the chair lift system."
