Best Beach areas (North/South) & Undertow

Hello, can anyone recommend one area over the other for the best beaches overall. Is there worse corrosion in any areas? Also, are there beaches with less undertows?? Have small children. Thanks!!

Beaches and the erosion of them change daily and so you can't predict anything. There is no big difference in the beaches, you will hear people say this one is better than that but most folks promote the one they go to and unless you see them all over an over you really can't say one is better or worse since they do change daily sometimes. You hardly ever hear the term undertow here, you will hear the term rip current. No matter where you are with little kids you can't take your eyes off them, it is an ocean and there can be waves bigger than the ones before.

Right - rip currents can be deadly and most often are found near sand bars which families with young ones enjoy playing on. In a minute the water can change and the shallow water you walked through to get to the sandbar is now overhead and flowing. We have had three deaths in va beach this year where rip currents we're the cause-please educate yourself and then enjoy the beach!

I really suggest you put little kids in life preservers if they're going out past knee depth or so. That way, you just don't have to stress about all the things that can go wrong.
