The New Bern Days Inn is a substandard hotel and I do not recommend it at all. "Run"'s comments about the city of New Bern as a place to visit are way off base. New Bern is a beautiful quaint town with many things to see and do. The town was originally the capital of NC before Raleigh. The main attraction in town is the Tryon Palace - originally the governor's mansion. There are also historic trolley tours, a fireman's museum, many, many great antique shops, art galleries and specialty shops, and river boat tours. There isn't a lot of night life, but on weekends there is usually live music at Captain Ratty's and the Sheraton. If this visitor locked himself in his room at the Day's Inn and didn't get out to see the town, then he doesn't know what he missed. Perhaps he would have had a better time if he had stayed at a decent hotel or one of the charming bed and breakfast inns instead of the cheapest in town. Visit New Bern, you won't regret it.
