Camping Choices

We are planning to camp in the OBX from 8/7 - 8/17/09. We are unable to decide between Rodanthe Waterspots and Campground, and the NPS Campground on Ocracoke. We are beach people and have no issue with being on the beach all day, we also have a 4WD for beach driving. My question is with the length of time that we are going to be there is there enought to see, do, restaurants, bars, nightlife (not big partiers though) more like local live music etc. or is that lenght of time to long for Ocrackoe? Also, we ahve a dog that loves the water. Rodanthe Campground is right on the sound. How is sound accesss on Ocracoke if the ocean is to rough for our dog to swim.

That was a lot I know but thanks in advance!!!

The NPS camp grounds have no hook ups and only cold showers if that makes a difference Not sure of the Rodanthe one that time of year you need at least a fan at night.

You choice of length of time one Ocracoke is good to see most every thing there you choice of night life is limited but there is some . Sound side on Ocracoke too is limited you will not find much .

Seeing what your plans are I might recommend Frisco Woods Camp ground as they are sound side with access hook ups of all kinds from none to full some water front sites for tens or RV’s and as you have 4 wheel drive you have several choices of ocean front beaches in that area .

Sounds like your new comers here so here too is a site just for you and if you have never driven on the beach there is info on that too.
