Airport transit time and Pub hours

Hi, all. We will be passing through Raleigh en route to the South. Our flight arrives just before midnight on a Thursday night. Just wondering how far it is into town from the airport, and how late the bars stay open.

Ideally, we'd like to go into town to have a night cap and then just stay downtown. But we are wondering if that is feasible. If it isn't, we'll likely start driving south and just crash in a hotel maybe an hour out of Raleigh. We are on an extremely tight schedule and so will not be able to stay an extra night in Raleigh.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Raleigh/Durham airport is halfway between Raleigh and Durham, putting it about 25 minutes from each city's downtown, which is where each have most of their nightlife.

Downtown Raleigh has a huge number of bars, pubs and cafes and at least three different decent hotels that are within walkable distance to them. Downtownraleigh.org and downtownraleigh.com both have good lists of them all.

NC law has bars stop serving alcohol at 2am. But often you'll find nightclubs open later, particularly ones with dancefloors/DJs. (And will sell overpriced cola after 2.)

Hey, Rob, thanks a lot for the intel. We'd probably just want to grab a beer in a pub, kind of thing, and it sounds like we can just squeeze that in if we're lucky!
