Travelling from Castellammara del Golfo

I have booked the Hotel Punta Nord- Est for a week, but now think we would like to see Marsala while we are in Sicily. Using buses is it easy to get from Castellammara to Marsala and how long would it take?

If it is possible will change my booking to the last 3 nights in Marsala before getting flight home from Trapani.

Your help is appreciated.

Hi gm2484,

It shouldn't be a problem, you could get the bus Castellammare - Trapani (1 hour):

aziendasicilianatrasporti.it/opencms/opencms…

and then the Trapani - Marsala (50 mins):

aziendasicilianatrasporti.it/opencms/opencms…

you other option would be the train (1h 30min):

the train station is about 2,5 km from your hotel, either a quick taxi ride or a 500m walk to the bus station and chatch the local service (green table) to the station:

Best Wishes

Have you considered the train?

Castellammare del Golfo and Marsala both have train stations – About 1,5 hours by train.

Trenitalia:

Castellammare is well positioned for excursions.

Why Marsala??

Marsala is not so much a tourist town as a business town, but its train station is convenient; the cantinas are fun to visit; and the saltpans are nearby; but still, there are many more attractive towns with more significant sites to base.

Vagabonda, I read the train station in Castellammare is about a mile outside of town. Do the city buses go there?

It reads “Stazione Ferroviaria C.Mare”.

You can right click your mouse over the green table - Click on “View Image”. That will bring it up, and you could then magnify it.
