Rustic Agriturismo in Trapani Province

We have a farm in Canada and would like to stay on a working farm in the Trapani area. Rustic accomodation is fine. We will have a car. Do you have any suggestions? All the online agriturismos I have been able to find seem quite posh (swimming pools and large dining rooms) and I am not sure if there is another name I should be searching under, or a specific website that specializes in smaller farms with more basic accomodations. We will be travelling the early part of April. Thank you.

Excellent question. I cannot help with the answer but am very interested in what others recommend. I agree that most agritourismo sites seem more like spas that working farms. We will be in Sicily in early May and would like to experience a true Italian countryside home.

Agriturismi by definition are working farms, many producing olive oil or wine. Agriturismi are located in the countryside and would require hiring a car.

Consider Agriturismo Tarantola in Alcamo (Trapani province).

Baglio Spanò is lovely, but not so rustic, and possibly too posh, but still very much worth a consideration, especially considering your intended area.

It is fairly typical for Sicilian agriturismi to offer pools, as does Baglio Case Colomba – The pool isn’t an indication that it’s not a working farm.

Thank you for the consideration Vagabonda. I've just remembered another agriturismo without pool. It is not expensive, nor is Casale Colomba or Baglio Spano (are they may be good value?).

Prego Aussies11,

Most agriturismi are good values and they offer a glimpse of local life, in addition to the opportunity for visitors to experience the local regional cuisine. It would be wonderful if every itinerary included at least one stay at an agriturismi.

Cordialmente,

Vagabonda
