Egadi Islands

Hello

my husband and I and another couple are travelling to the west side of Sicily this April. We are interested in visiting the Egadi Islands.

Can you please let us know

from where can we buy the tickets?

how much are the tickets?

where is the ferry point and what is the procedure to visit the three islands?

Thanks

Paula

Welcome to Sicily Paula Z, and Wolvesblue2 too!

Siremar runs the ferry and hydrofoil service from Trapani to the Egadi islands, and Ustica Lines runs hydrofoil service from Trapani and Marsala to the Egadi.

April is early for the islands....

So you think we won't enjoy it that much in April?

I am just asking so that we can plan something else instead.

Thanks a lot

Prego Paula Z,

It would depend on the weather. Weekends are busier than weekdays, and also Easter???

If the weather is clear and not cold, you could take some marvellous walks (hikes) on the Island of Marettimo, the largest and most remote of the Archipelago. To see more of the islands, you could take the morning Siremar FERRY (not hydrofoil) to Marettimo (arrives around 12 noon), and the late afternoon Siremar hydrofoil back to Trapani. Expect very, very few tourists between April 13-16. When I travelled to Marettimo in early May several years ago, there were only 10 people on the ferry boat (most got off on Favignana, the first stop). I was able to take a 3-hour hike before returning to Trapani. Marettimo is extremely beautiful on a clear day, and worth a short visit.

www.usticalines.it (has fewer connections to Marettimo than does Siremar)

Hi Paula Z,

There will be few tourists on the Egadi that early in the season.

If the weather's nice, you might enjoy Favignana.

Favignana in Maggio 2013:

Or perhaps Levanzo's Grotta del Genovese would interest.
