Bed & Breakfast for Anniversary near Wilmington

My wife and I are looking for an affordable bed & breakfast near Wilmington. We would like to stay on or near the beach...

We are planning to go April 3-5, which is a festival weekend.

We would like to spend less than $125/night.

Any suggestions?

Have you looked at the list of b&bs here on TA? Click on hotels on the left margin. Then click the b&b tab. You can click on the map there which is helpful in getting your bearings.

For pretty much guaranteed perfection, The Verandas is wonderful...but it's higher than you want. Sometimes they do specials where you can get the third night free...which might be a better average for your needs.

We stayed several years ago at the deRosset House and loved it. Here's the site: http://www.thewilmingtonian.com/derosset.htm The garden at the rest of the Wilmingtonian was very nice but the accommodations were not the same. The de Rosset House is historic. I don't know how it has fared and how well it has been kept, which I only say since it seems other reviewers are not so happy with the modern side of the Wilmingtonian. But the historic de Rosset was lovely and calming and quiet and romantic. Very fond memories.

The b&bs seem to be in the historic district near the river. It's a very nice area where you can do the Riverwalk and eat overlooking the river and check out all the shops in the old warehouses that have been repurposed. Do a tv show tour if you're interested, a trolley or horse and carriage tour of the historic area. But, of course, enjoy the weekend with the historic home tours downtown, the garden tours nearby, the parade and street fair around you. And, of course, go to the beach across town.

It may be cheaper to try and book a vacation rental on Topsail/surf city beach or south of town in Carolina beach and drive the 30 minutes into Wilmington for the festival, if your looking to save some cash and to be ON the beach. My favorite B&B is the Graystone Inn downtown, but with the festival going on, Im sure the prices are high right now.
