Wilmington/Wrightsville Beach

We are planning a trip to NC then to Hilton Head. We would like to stay over at the Towne Place Suites Wilmington/Wrightsville Beach. Is this area nice? Is this area safe to walk around? I've heard it might not be such a good place to stay. High crime.

It's not a place you'd want to walk around....maybe not dangerous, just nothing to do or see.

You would need to drive to Wrightsville Beach or Wilmington.

We are planning on stopping for 3 nights on our way to Hilton Head. I'm concerned about leaving some of our things in the car. We have an SUV so it would be visable.

Do you have any suggestions on where to eat?

Your valuables should be fine so long as you park in the front or the back of the hotel. The parking located on the side of the hotel may not have the best visibility, but we didn't have any problems there during our visit last summer. The hotel was very modern and clean, especially for the price too.

There are a few chain restaurants across the street and a Crackerbarrel around the corner. For a greater variety of restaurants you can travel east on Eastwood Road and you'll find several options near the intersection of Military Cutoff Road and continuing into Wrightsville Beach. You can also hook a left on Military Cutoff Road (heading North) and you'll find even more options.

I hope this helps.
