Just arrived back from a week at the Palladium. Upon arrival we were upgraded to the Royal Suites! I can't say enough about the staff and their effort to ensure that we had a great holiday. Front desk staff were very accommodating despite some of the bad experiences posted by others! We fell in love with two of the animation staff - Ali and Marie (although we heard through the grapevine that Marie is leaving in two weeks). We spoke to the staff and they reinforced that they appreciate tips in pesos. We tipped generously especially with the room cleaning staff; they work long hours and very hard. They actually changed our sheets every day despite our suggesting it wasn't necessary.
We had less than great weather - huge storm with gale winds and rain for 2 1/2 days. Despite the rain went on the Las Caletas tour (heaven) and spent some time exploring Bucerias! We took the bus from the Palladium to Bucerias which is worth the experience. More fun than a taxi!
We had friends staying in Building 3 so spent time at both the Suites site and the main site. We would definitely upgrade to the Suites if we go back next year if only for the fact that it is smaller and relatively self-contained with their own heated pool, restaurant, etc. It depends what you are looking for but we enjoyed how quiet it was in comparison to the main area. The food in the buffet was very good. I'm not sure why some have complained, there really was something for everyone, we certainly never went hungry!
The beach is small and the ocean was quite rough this past week probably due to the storm front..
We went to the Italian and Japanese restaurants. The Sushi is great and loved the food we chose in the Italian. The beach BBQ was our favorite, don't miss it! If you are in the Suites you have priority for all of the a la carte restaurants including the BBQ as you can make reservations.
All in all we really had no complaints and would go back in a heartbeat! The Mexicans are beautiful people.
