Help!Gran Bahia Principe Akumal or Catalonia Yucatan Beach ?

Hi All,

Please help to decide where to go.

We are planning our trip (me & my friend) on December 19 for a week. I'd like to hear pros and cons about these hotels. Thank you

The big difference in the two resorts is the beach. At the Bahia the beach is very long. The beach at the Cat is very small and rocky, you will definetly need water shoes to enter the water. The Cat has a great lagoon on site that you can snorkel in.

I hope this helps.

Found this in another review

The Catalonia is a nice resort--don't get me wrong. But if you want somewhere that has good snorkelling, you'll be disappointed. An advantage to the Catalonia though is that's it's just a 10 min. walk into the marina area of Puerto Aventuras--many nice shops & restaurants, Dolphin Discovery, and a small shipwreck museum are there. It's not very "Mexican", but it's a nice little town.

Wherever you go just enjoy. Never been to the Catalonia, but the Bahia rocks (just my own opinion).
