Akumal / Half Moon Bay Questions

Been to Akumal for day trips a couple of years ago and loved so making this our destination for our next trip in April.

Has anyone stayed at Mi Casa del Mar in between the two beaches? It looks nice and would seem to be a good walking distance to the main beach. We were considering Half Moon Bay but it seems far from the grocery stores and main beach, since I remember cabs being lacking on the half moon bay end of Akumal.

Can someone recommend a good place for morning coffee and breakfast in either half moon bay or akumal?

I am a big fan of pollo asado and have heard that there is a good place in pueblo akumal. Can someone provide me directions please?

Can someone recommend a good tour of Sian Kaan biosphere? Are there any that pick-up in Akumal? Or can you go right to Sian Kaan and hop onto one?

Appreciate anyone's thoughts!

Turtle Bay Bakery is great for breakfast in Akumal, try the breakfast Burrito, a meal for two.

As for chickens -

Jafet & Hamed on the right hand side of the main road into the Pueblo. Almost to the top of the hill. Great chicken.

80 pesos, served w/ warm corn tortillas, rice, beans and salsa.

Turtle Bay was our favourite for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Very casual, great smoothies.

the pueblo akumal is on the other (west) side of the hwy. Try the bbq chicken for lunch (bbq outside)

For very local cooking try

Imelda's (by TSA - close to the HMB road)

or

Loncheria (by the Chomak store outside of the arches)

See members.cox.net/mexicocabo/menu/menu.htm

for menus

For trips to Sian Kaan, drop by TSA to price a tour

Have to agree... turtle bay cafe was our fav for Bfast... great huge burritos, omletes, french tost, etc... great fresh baked goodies...

Ate at the lonchera a couple times..great prices.. most plates are 40 pesos..great deal

Lol ha beach bar has a good selection...

the BBQ place on top of the hill is a must.... huge portions for the price

The distance between the shops/eats in akumal and half moon bay was very easy.. we walked it every morning and their are always people walking morning, noon and night..

We actually walked from Que Onda at the far end of half moon bay next to the lagoon all the way back to the bungalows in Akumal with no problem...

guess just depends if you mind walking and exercise..great way to digest a good meal or walk off happy hour :)

WARNING:

Do not go snorkeling right after the breakfast burrito, lol.

All that exercise after that huge breakfast does not go hand in hand.
