Day trip to Cozumel??

we are going to GBP in a week, and thinking of doing a day trip to Cozumel. Is it worth doing??

We have been to MR 6x, and have never done this, so thinking we should venture over there.

Once there what to do?? Rent scooters??What about snorkelling off the island?? is it safe and can you rent snorkelling equip. like in Akumal??

Any info would be great.

Yes do cozumel

Take the early morning Ferry...get to PDC via collectivo...allow extra time in the a.m. as the vans are filled w/ people headed to work you may have to wait a bit. Take a motion sickness pill is you tend to get ill. They do help.

No...don't rent scooter. The further from the ferry dock you get the better the prices get for renting a jeep or small car. Stop off at Cornoa beach and snorkel and the other little beaches too. Stop at Coconuts up on the cliff for a delicious lunch.

make your way back to town late afternoon....shop....have a cold one or two...make your way back to the ferry...take a collective...back to hotel. Go see enjoy!

Buy one way ticket on the Ferry in the a.m., if you buy return tickets, then you have to wait for your ferry to return back to the mainland. There are multiple ferry's and they alternate, so depending on when you want to head back to the main land you coud have to wait awhile for your boat rather than just purchasing a ticket home and boarding the ferry thats leaving. We were given this tip and it served us very well.

Have fun!

P.S. while on the boat, we had a live band entertaining us for the ride across, hope you get the same.

My husband and I were planning on doing this excursion on Cozumel called "Cozumel Bar Hop". We wound up not doing it because of Hurricane Rina/Tropical Storm during the times we were trying to coordinate with Tom. We've heard and read great reviews for this excursion if you're into meeting people, going around the island while trying out different bars.

Have a great time on the island regardless!

We did it a couple of years ago and absolutely loved it! There is so much going on in Cozumel with the cruise ships docking and so many tourists. I found the choices for souvenirs to be so much more in Cozumel.

If you decide to rent a car or jeep and want to explore the island, stop at Coconuts for lunch! It's a lot of fun, the view is breathtaking and the experience is worth it.

We loved our day at Cozumel so much we travelled there for a week this past summer.

If you decide to stay in the main square, try Wet Wendy's. They have the best margaritas around and the selection is amazing. The atmosphere is fun and the staff are so outgoing!

Go to Cozumel, you won't regret it!

We got the ferry (paid on the day at the ticket office). Lots of people selling trips, jeep hire etc on the ferry. As there were 10 of us we asked about renting a van with a driver to show us around the island. She radioed ahead and organised this for us (we haggled a good price). Fantastic day! Cozumal is beautiful and so much to do. Would definitely recommend this. In fact if we went back to that part of the world again we would stay for the whole 2 weeks in Cozumal. Enjoy!
