Spring Breakers????

It just occurred to me that we will be traveling over part of Spring Break to Gran Bahia Principe Sian Kaan. Does anyone think that it will be a problem at our resort or any of the others (GBP)? We've been to Puerto Adventuras in March, but it would not appeal to a young crowd, as it's sort of a sleepy little town. I don't think that Sian Kaan would appeal to Spring Breakers either, but what about the other Grand Bahia Principe resorts? Please tell me they have a Spring Break policy, because I have already booked 3/18 to 3/25.

:( Shoulda thought of this earlier, I guess.

I don't know about Canada but my daughter is in college in US and the spring breaks fall in March. Many resorts in the Riviera Maya have a no spring break policy. I was told by management at the Palladium that they do not accept unescorted groups of teens but they cannot turn down a paying family with a teen or two.

I have read that another resort beginnning with B had a big problem with spring breakers. Haven't heard about GBP.

2 years ago we went to the Grand Palladium. Never again during Spring Break. I do not know what their policy is but the lobby at night filled up with 18-20 year olds. They ordered staff around, were loud, really took up the space. It was not pleasant. During the day on the beach, they could not be seen, but when the lights went out, there they were ready to have fun. Their right I suppose, but not what I bargained for. The resort was beautiful, the room was amazing but night life was not what we expected.

However, by 11:30 or so they moved off to the disco which left us with space and quality time. Their should be enough places to go to at the beach and overall resort that even if there are Spring Breakers they will not invade your space.

I honestly don't think you'll have to worry about it. The biggest concern as Eldorados said will be little ones as that is March break here in Ontario for all the schools (elementary to high school). We were at Coba last year around that time and there weren't any "spring breakers" to be found....

Thanks, I am relieved to hear it. I dont mind children (I have 2) its just the rowdy groups of college kids I was hoping to avoid. Families are another thing entirely. :) I'm sure we will have at great time at Sian Kaan. It looks wonderful! I have never been so excited to try a new place. I love the fact that we will have access to all of the other resorts too. Thanks for the information!!

Baya - looks like we'll be leaving just as you arrive. We'll be the ones with the long faces and red eyes. We are leaving from NS and are going 11-18 because this is NS school spring break so it's the only time everyone could go together. University break is in Feb.

I'm with you - I am sooo excited! I check here all the time for updates so thank you everyone for posting updates and information.

No problem - it would be a concern in Cancun and possibly even Playa, but the Bahia is far enough removed from all of that to be safe. Not exactly a "hot spot" for college kids.

We'll be at the Sian Ka'an the same dates as you. That actually isn't March break here in Ontario, it's the week before. May not even be a lot of kids there that week, at least not Canadian ones..

We too have been to the Grand Palladium during the second week of March - twice now and BOTH TIMES the "spring breakers" arrived during the end of our stay.

Thankfully it wasn't anything like the horror stories we have all seen and heard, BUT it did change the vibe quite a bit - especially around the pool, beach and restaurants - louder and roudier than normal. thankfully the GP offers a variety of pools and a very long beach that we were able to find some quiet space, but it was sure a lot harder to get into the restaurants.

I guess I am getting old - as I am unsure if they were university or highschool seniors - and unable to tell if they were there alone - or with families but just not hanging out with them.

Spring breakers definately head down to the riviera maya - maybe not the stereotypical cancun scene, but they are still there nonetheless.
