Generally, how many pesos to bring for tipping?

i was thinking of getting USD $100 into pesos from the local bank or AAA. there is only the missus and myself. we might go into Playa DelCarmen once. mostly we'll stay at the GBP resort.

do you think $100 worth of pesos is enough or might more be needed?

I think $100 is enough for 10 -12 days.

I bring $100 for one week and extra for my private transfer. If I run out I use the ATM for pesos.

Good point from Ann.

And if you go into PDC or one of the local towns, paying your taxi/colectivo in Pesos says you $$

i generally take $100 in u.s.1's and my maid, buffet, restaurant, bellboy and driver tips in pesos. i am lucky that i can order 20 and 50 denominations at my bank in advance so it's easy to work out.

vancouversundog is correct is cheaper for taxi if you use pesos generally is 100 peso into akumal from the palladium and but they will charge $12 american. i just paid .00852 for the pesos that i purchased this week 1000 pesos was $85.20 cdn

welp, i guess i shoulda looked into this last week...AAA needs 2 days to order pesos...not enough time now lol. she told me their exchange rate is USD 8¢ for 1 peso.

GBP has an ATM with a good exchange rate, right? is there a big fee incurred for using that ATM?

tx so much --- art.

use the atm in the hacienda to get pesos

The other ones give you US$ and wack you with extra fees

Big fee - can't remember - the ones I usually visit charge under 30 pesos and my bank at home charges my $3 - still much better than a 8 to 1 rate
