Wildlife tips please for next month's (Feb) stay at GBP

We very enjoy seeing local wild life and as this is our first visit to Mexico, any good tips or ideas would be much appreciated.

Walk / ride around the golf course - lots of wildlife in this area

Bikes can be obtained by the tennis courts near the Hacieenda

Do NOT feed any wildlife or fish - take only photos

Have fun

Also, a number of the cenote/zip line attractions offer a "zoo"/eco park area usually with a guide to explain.

Swim the Akumal Bay for fish, turtles. Read all the info under Top Q's-right side of page. Visit the zoo/water parks: Xcaret, Xel-Ha - bothe googleable (is that a word??) so you can learn about them. There is also The Jungle Place, Crococun Zoo, an aviary near Playa Del Carmen.

All above within a day's tour.

Lots of wildlife to be seen on resort , no need to go over to the golf course, just walking to and from the restaurants you can see ( amongst other things) , Iguanas, coatimundi , agouti, raccoon, land turtles, snakes, beautiful butterflies and moths, pelicans, ospreys, woodpeckers, golden oriole, yucatan jays - many other birds that I don't know the names of . If you are very lucky and get up at dawn and walk around quietly you may see deer: )

The wildlife on resort is one of my favourite things about the Bahia Principe resort : )

A short 5 mins cab ride from the bahia will bring you to Akumal beach where you are almost guaranteed to see turtles if you snorkel there.

The resort does an eco-wildlife and jungle walk that tells you about different species of trees/plants, birds etc too and how they try to preserve it... info is usually in your room..

LOL - they re-opened them later - many posts back in Oct/Nov about closing the bars, especially the Coba section
