Grand Bahia Principe Coba - Upgrade to Family Junior Suite?

Hello. My wife and I, and our 3 year old son are considering this resort for 1 week in early April. One of the upgrades is from a regular junior suite to the family junior suite. The upgrade is $310 total for the 3 of us. Is this upgrade really worth it? It seems the only difference is the room location, and the extra juice etc. they keep in the family suite. I was hoping to hear from someone that stayed in the family suite to see whether the upgrade is really worth the extra cost. Thank you very much for your time.

great resort for families , coba beach is good for the little ones. I was under the impression that all the rooms at coba were the same. I would skip the upgrade. If you can get the Royal golden upgrade for next to nothing , I would take that. Having acces to the Royal golden Lobby was very convenient for us based on where our room was.

1st, what travel website did you read this option on

A few weeks ago, someone mentioned a similar upgrade

It seems Bahia was renting out 2 rooms with an interconnecting door and calling it a multi family suite

Great, thanks for the reply. You had full access to the kids water park through the regular suite, correct? According to the website, the Family Junior Suite includes:

Room Amenities: -

Rooms with a privileged location near the Water Park

- Access to the special family zone, featuring: the Water Park, a kids' spa (surcharge applies), mini-golf, swings, sports pitches and special sports equipment and an exclusive area at the buffet.

- Use of bathrobes and slippers for the whole family

- Kids' pack with bathroom amenities

- Welcome gift and basket of sweets

- Kids' mini bar with juice, milk, milkshakes and soft drinks (restocked daily)

- Babysitting service available from 6-11 p.m. (must be reserved in advance)

- Baby Station: special area offering everything you need for small children, including a nappy-changing table, baby bottle steriliser, microwave, etc.

All of our leisure facilities and programmes are designed to ensure fun for all the family. They include a mini club with a games room and a teen club featuring a video game arcade. The staff specialised in children's care and entertainment, along with the schedule of activities and shows, are the best choice for your family holiday.

The little ones will have fun with the Bahia Scouts programme, in which they will be split into age groups so they can play and learn about nature and the different wildlife species like real scouts.

I have a feeling that a lot of these amenities are available with the regular suites as well. Not sure it is worth the extra $300.

Thanks for your reply as well Vancouversundog. It sounds like you are describing the Family Master Suite (offered by Air Canada or West Jet vacations), which is comprised of a couple of rooms. The Family Junior Suite sounds pretty much the same as the regular suite, with the addition of a few amenities that I listed above. You can see the descriptions on Sunquest or BookIt.

That part about being near the Kids Water Park scares me. Buildings 16 17 18 19 are near the Waterpark. They are also very near the Highway , and i would avoid them. My preference would be #1 - #4 for proximity to the beach , or # 24 - # 30 for a good central location close to everything.

You can ask for a particular building , but probably won't get it. Better to request an area , eg : ground floor facing quiet pool.

Again : great place for families.

Thanks so much for your reply gordanddar. The only reason that we were considering it is because it said that it gets us access to the special family zone, featuring: the Water Park, a kids' spa (surcharge applies), mini-golf, swings, sports pitches and special sports equipment and an exclusive area at the buffet.

Do you know if these things are included with the regular suites? I assume that everyone has access to the water park, and not just those staying in the family suites? Thanks again.

I would have said , everyone can go everywhere , but the mini golf , kids spa , and exclusive area in the buffet are all new news to me.

I know that there was a special "kids corner" at the buffet , but anyone could wander over there if they were by chance craving a hot dog.

They had special plates for kids , little divided sections for each food , which I thought was nice.

I doubt that you would be excluded from any area by booking a regular suite .

We had a great time at this resort, and didn't bother with the upgrade. We were put in a room next to the main pool and loved it (block 14). We are planning on going back in the spring. Great resort...especially for kids. I am not sure about which are the best rooms per se. We were very happy with our location. The only suggestion I can make is to get up early and reserve a pool lounger with your towel. I've always hated when people did this in the past, but this is literally the only way you would get one.

Thanks Marksmithy!

Did you find it loud next to the pool? If we are by the waterpark are we close to any food places?

We have a son that enjoys 5:30 wake ups so I think we'll be able to access loungers. ...the only positive in a 5:30 wake up.

So glad you enjoyed your stay there!
