Advise for rooms would be to send an email with your request 2 weeks before you leave. I requested building 6 & 3 rd floor with king size bed. We got a king in building 6 on the 2nd floor. My friends were on the first floor & it was just as nice. Jungle view.
Restaurants- Tapas was my favorite all around. It was so beautiful to sit outside. Best drinks w a upscale menu. Food was very good. Yes small that's what tapas are but don't feel funny getting more & more. Mexican would be next. All of them were good for different things.
Nightlife- When we were there in May the pool bar closed early, but I hear it's open now. I'm sure that would be fun. Disco was empty except on karaoke night which was fun.
Tips- Bring banana's from breakfast to feed fish, always ask for top shelf by brand with a smile, If it's not strong enough just ask for more, take bus into Akumal & go snorkeling & look for sea turtles.

We just returned- we had requested a king size in advance and didn't get one until the 2nd day there. they just posted my review of the resort where i wrote ALOT :) We loved it, though.
Returned today. Make sure you bring bug spray. They were really bad when we were there. I was a walking buffet for them. Especially at the Tapas and lobby.
Also, I think this was said before, but the Italian is now up by the lobby even though the signs point that it is by the beach. We saw several people wondering around looking for it.
Have a great time. I think any of the rooms and buildings would be fine.
mocha2-I like the term 'walking buffet'. If there is a mosquito around they will find my husband. I always bring a couple of purse sized bug sprays that I carry with us everywhere and anti itch stuff-usually benedryl cream and pills. They still get him, but I think the stuff you find in the camping section with lots of deet works best--for him anyway. Some people swear by Avon's Skin so Soft.
I used the deep woods OFF, but they would find any spot that I didn't have it on, like the bottom of my foot! At the Tappas place they were biting us through our clothes. We had to leave there because they were so bad.
I always get them, but this was the worst I have seen. I am not sure if there is anything they can do about it. I hate putting on so much bug spray.
Try and ask for a corner room. They are a bit bigger. We were in building 6, 3rd floor and could see the beach. Excellent room. Our favorite restaurant was Royal Grill. You will end up going a few times. Enjoy.

We stayed in Room 6201. Be warned though the AC does not get really cold. It was a really quiet room. Loved it.
Can you confirm if the rooms have dvd players? Do they have a big selection of TV channels?
No DVD Players. Maybe you could arrange with the front desk if they had a few. There were about a dozen or so channels.
