Mossman Gorge - shuttle bus or walk?

I've read a lot of reviews on Mossman Gorge since the new Visitor Centre opened and it is a 2Km walk or a $6 shuttle bus ride to the gorge itself - what no-one says though is whether the walk is actually worth doing. Is it just up a boring road, or is it through interesting surroundings? We plan to walk as much as possible once we reach the gorge ( in mid Oct), so would we be better off to save our energy and use the bus?

We walk. It's along the road but not boring. The road winds throug some pretty spectacular rainforest. It takes about 20 minutes each way.

You should definitely do some of the walking trails once you arrive as well.

In the end it depends on how much time you have and how much you like to walk. Our decision was made because we had just missed a bus and we hate waiting at bus stops.

The road in is every bit as interesting as the circuit track at the gorge. Walk in and around the tracks then if you have had enough jump on the shuttle bus to get back out.....

The walk to the gorge is short and interesting in its own right. If time is short, use the bus, as the time inside the Gorge is spectacular. Do the long walk inside the gorge.
