Might be coming to Clevland on guy trip

We like to drink beer and play golf, we enjoy pubs, and bars. What does Clevland have to offer a group of mid 30's guys, some married some not, cool place to stay near pubs and not really trendy bars, close to golf?

Most of the Golf Courses would be on the outskirts of Cleveland, but probaby I would look at Westlake. They have a shopping / restaurant complex known as Crocker Park in Westlake, there are hotels and lots of restaurants nearby, and there are tons of golf courses on the west side.

www.cityofwestlake.org

www.crockerpark.com

www.thegolfcourses.net - for courses near Westalke.

You can always drive downtown Cleveland for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the Warehouse District for restaurants and bars - www.warehousedistrict.org.

Have a great stay in Cleveland.

Blue Heron Golf Course in Medina was recently voted the second-best public course in the U.S....it's new, has a small clubhouse. It's about 20 miles south of airport. There are newer motels at the SR 18 exit (not hotels) about 1 miles from course...and a couple of bars there, including a very nice BW3 (wing place) with a lodge feel to it. Also, if you're hankering for a gyro and a beer, On Tap is right there, too. Not much to look at, but OK for grease and beer.

But this isn't a walking neighborhood. This is a suburb.

As other poster mentioned, finding a pub neighborhood and a golf course isnt necessarily easy. We had and have bad city leaders who are self-interested and unimaginative.

I might suggest a tour of golf and beer. Depending on your days here, stay near a different course each day and then, perhaps, with a finale in downtown Cleveland where there are lots of bars to hit. Most casual/biz casual at best...and take in an Indians game.

The Plain Dealer on Mondays has a special golf section...You may want to look there for more info. The paper is at cleveland.com.

If you're beer drinkers, try to hit Great Lakes Brewing Company before you leave. Its across a bridge from downtown and one of the premier brewers in the country. Also, good food and nice patio. It's near the West Side Market, an open-air market where you can sample some local specialties....and see an envy of bigger cities.

If you're into music, check out beachlandballroom.com Excellent club in old Slovenian Hall (still serve Little Kings). There are various other venues, including House of Blues, but nothing so unique as Beachland. Laid back, not clubby.

Finally, if you end up doing the Medina thing, you're only 20 minutes then from downtown Akron. It's home to a minor-league team in fairly new and nice digs....and surrounding restaurants and pub. You could do a crawl there....it gets University of Akron kids...so more close together to walk. The Lime Spider is a fun place...not to be confused with the Barking Spider in Cleveland Heights, which is also cool, but for different reasons.

Once you narrow your scope, ask more questions about your locales and we can provide more info....
