Well starting November is the last part of Autumn so it is pretty pleasant. End of Novemebr is starting of the severe winters and can start to become more chilly. Time frame will depend mostly on what you are looking forward to in the trip. If you are only interested in Shillong & Cherrapunjee sightseeing, then 4-5 days is more tan enough. If you want more than that, then your number of days will also increase. The most safest is definitely by Road which takes 3.5 hrs from the airport. But then you can also try taking the chopper, it takes 20 mins.

Hi

Much thanks for the reply.

I have been a regular of Trip Advisor.

From, what I have read, the chopper ride and the taxi ride cost the same - almost. Why is that anyone would spend 4 hrs, when the same work can be done in 20 mins ?

What is the best time to reach Guwahati, so that it's safe to travel to Shillong, the same day. I don't intend staying in guwahat for the night.

I don't plan to stay for more than 4 days.

I have also read that even 1 week is not enough for shillong.

I want to make the most of my trip and not get bored.

If there is enough to do in shillong for 3 days, then I'd love to stay there. If not, then pls suggest how to divide my time.

Regards

Well best time to reach is before noon or earlier than that. So that you can catch the chopper. Not many know about the chopper as it has been suspended for many months. The rates are 1500 for adult, 1200 children and 1000 for infants. If you do not get the chopper then its 3.5+ hours by road.

My suggesstion is spend 3 days in Cherrapunjee+Mawplhnag+Mawlynnong and 1 day in SHillong. But it is better to end your four day trip in SHillong as it is closer to Guwahati and even the chopper is nearer.

Great,

Do I book the chopper in advance or will I get it after reaching shillong ?

Do you have an idea about the timings of chopper ?

Also, can you suggest some reliable taxi guys ?

Hi

Pls solve another query of mine.

What should be the order of visiting all places, you suggested ?

Cherrapunjee+Mawplhnag+Mawlynnong

Do you suggest, we stay at all these places or we stay at one place and travel from there ?

Hi Karikor

I just spoke with a taxi guy of Shillong (I got his number from trip advisor).

Can you plan my trip ?

I'm reaching Guwahati on 15th Nov morning and leaving Shillong on 19th morning.

Pls tell me, where do I need to stay ?

Say, should I stay at Cheerapunji or Mawlong ?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Meghalaya Helicopter Service MTC Bus Stand,

Police Bazar

Tel 0364-2223129, 2223200

I think the rates are now 1500 for adults 1200 for children and 1000 for infants.

Well I would recommend staying 2 nights in Cherrapunjee and 1 night in Mawlynnong. Else stick to the 2nights Cherrapunjee and 2 nights Shillong.

For Cherrapunjee Cherra Holiday Resorts is the best, however I would like to know your budget so that I can recommend something suitable for you. As for Shillong not just the budget, but also the area like commercial or residential. And how many of you and what age group are you all in?

Hi Karikor

I would not like to spend more than 3000 per day. We are three people.

I have read about Pinewood in shillong.

How is that ?

This taxi guy, I spoke with told me that the chopper service is still suspended.

How does this sound - we reach Wednesday morn and go to Cheerapunji straight without staying in shillong. We stay in Cherrapunji on wednesday and thursday.

We reach Mawlonng on friday. Is there a need to stay here ?

I mean, is there enough to see ?

Saturday, we reach Shillong and from there push back to Delhi on monday (19th).

Pls advise.
