Guwahati-Shillong

I want to tour Guwahati, Shillong, Cherrapunji and Kaziranga in mid-march. I am a resident of Kolkata. the tour should be of about 10 days. Can anyone provide me with a proper programme for the tour?

Hello,

For a start 10 days is good. I would suggest 1 day Shillong, 1day Mawlynnong, 2 days Sohra, 2 days Kaziranga, 1 day Guwahati, 1 day mawphlang or 1 day thadlaskein n 2 days for traveling coming from kolkata n returning back. If 10 days are exclusive of traveling to and fro kolkata then you can add 1 day to shillong n 1 day to kaziranga.

The 3rd week of December is cold but 4th week Dec n 1st week Jan is the coldest. And cost per head will basically depend on ur budget n the type of accommodation and logistics you would prefer.also whether you want to stay just in shillong or you want to stay in umiam, sohra, mawphlang, mawlynnong n thadlaskein as well. For 7 days you can cover at least 3/4 of these places comfortably.

Though it would be cold in December end in Meghalaya, still its enjoyable. May think of the following itinerary -

D1 Arrival Guwahati. See Kamakshya Temple later transfer to Kaziranga N.P.

D2 Kaziranga - Elephant and Jeep safari

D3 After breakfast transfer to Shillong

D4 Shillong - day trip to Mawlynnong

D5 Shillong - local s/s and transfer to Cherrapunjee (Local s/s), O/N stay

D6 Cherrapunjee - Trek to Double decker living root bridge. Later transfer to Shillong.

D7 Shillong to Guwahati.
