Village Heights Golf Resort Hersonissos

Have booked two weeks at Village Heights Golf Resort through RCI (Timeshare) in August this year. We are taking our 15 year old son. Is there anything for him to do? Is this a family resort? Is there an activities team? I know its a bit late as its already booked, but just to prepare ourselves for a bored (or not) teenager! Thanks for any feedback.

Hi Love Warmer Climates

Thanks for the info but we have already organised transport from the airport but will hire a car mid week to mid week when we are there, but we will bare in mind your directions.

We've had a look at the acquaplus website and despite some bad reviews on tripadvisor, it looks like good fun and well worth a visit.

The little village of Sissi sounds right up our street and will definately put it on our to do list.

Thanks again

Hi there

Exit the airport, follow signs towards Agios Nikoloas and get onto the E75 New National Road. Follow the E75 east for about 22-23 kms and exit at the ramp for Hersonissos and Kastelli. Come down the ramp to the Kastelli road, turn right, and the entrance to Village Heights is just along on the right.

Thank you very much for the directions, still struggling a bit with which car hire company to use. Would like a 5 door car not overly worried about the size as there are just 3 adults with hopefully 'medium' size luggage - need to learn to pack light !!!

Hi kitchenlady

If you look back up to my posting on here of 1 August you will see my directions to VH. We hired from Avis and were given a Crete map which the car hire personnel kindly marked with the route. Our downfall was that the Kastelli sign post was broken so watch out for the golf sign.

Enjoy your stay at VH and on Crete.

Hi All. Now returned from our two week holiday at Village Heights and finally got around to writing this review. The accommodation is second to none. We stayed in a two bed apartment which was on two levels. The cleaning staff and maintenance staff work very hard at keeping the resort clean and tidy. We were located by the pool which was a little way from the main pool by reception which suited us fine. We had lunch at the poolside bar on a few occasions and Maria, the lady behind the bar was very pleasant and most helpful. Full marks go to her. The reception staff, especially Irene, were also very helpful.

After reading reviews about hiring a car we though we would hire one for a few days in the middle of our holiday. We did not! The curtesy bus which takes you to the old village and then into Hersonissos itself, the harbour and then onto Star Beach was more than adequate for our needs.

We went to the water park on two occasions and on both of these days, a bus was sent to pick us up and then we were asked what time we would like to return to the resort and the bus was outside waiting to take us back both days. The water park was great fun and the food there is good and reasonably priced.

The prices for food and drink at the resort are somewhat expensive to say the least - you are a captive audience! The food and drink on the coast is much cheaper and of a good standard. All the bars are competing for your custom so there is plenty of choice.

We wanted to visit Sissi after reading reviews and although we didn't hire a car, all the boat trips from the harbour visit Sissi so we went on one of those. Make sure you check what is included in the boat trip, we chose one which wasn't the best to be fair as we always go on a boat trip when abroad. We did however, get to see Sissi which is a lovely little village and worth a visit.

If you're looking for a resort where you can just step outside and go to a different bar or restaurant each night this may not be the resort for you but the plus is that there is a curtesy bus to take you to the bars and restaurants, however, you will have to get a taxi back if you miss the last bus at approximately 7.30pm. The resort has an agreement with local taxis, so where ever you are in Hersonissos the cost is 12 euros. Good value for money if you're at Star Beach but not so good if you're only in the old village.

We were not approached by any sales staff apart from one english gent giving us advice on where to eat in the town. Most helpful.

We would definately recommend this resort and although we like to exchange to different places around the world we hope one day to return.
