Greetings from Florida

I was born and raised in sunny, beautiful, but very hot Florida. I wish I could spend one winter in a place that actually has winter.

Longyearbyen has plenty of winter and no sunshine (daylight) for months.

But Svalbard is a very special place. Consider other places in Norway (or Sweden/Finland).

I am going to a cold, wet, windy, cloudy, and extremely expensive miserable place in 2 weeks time:- Norway, I must need my head examined he he.

Svalbard (Longyearbyen) is in fact one of the driest places in Europe, 190 mm/year compared to for instance 600 mm in London, 400 mm in Madrid, 200 mm in Almeria.

Aberdeen has about 800 mm/year (about the same as Oslo), but Norway's interior is in the rain shadow and some places even on the main land gets only some 300 mm (like dry areas in Spain or Marocco!).

Mid winter is dark and very cold. Come to our northernmost county Finnmark in March/April. There is full sun, milder weather but still winter conditions, snow and skiing.
