Restaurant for lunch

Please can you help me? I want to take my grandparents out for a nice lunch in the Southend/Leigh/Westcliff area. They would prefer a more old-fashioned type of place with waitress service. Does anyone know of anywhere suitable please?

Leigh-on-Sea has a number of good restaurants these days including

The Boatyard:

Simply Seafood:

and several others with good dining and table service (assume waiters are acceptable, as well as waitresses??)

For something really old fashioned, then I 'KNOW of' this place, but have never been there. It's been around (in S-o-S) for years though, so that must say something about it:

I'm not sure whether you've had your lunch yet, but if I take my elderly Mum out we usually go to Tomassi's at the bottom of Southend High Street. There is a large restaurant upstairs, but if your grandparents can't manage the stairs, you can book a table on the ground floor which is smaller. Both floors are waitress service. Tomassi's also has an area for smaller meals, tea, coffee, cakes and ice-cream.

I would avoid the Boatyard - despite being in a wonderful setting, the food doesn't match its surroundings. Simply Seafood in Old Leigh is excellent, as is The Grove at the top of the hill.

There is one on the way down to the seafront which we use to use, can't remember the name but I think it's half way down from the High St level, by the way if you go down to the front, use the lifts it's a climb and a half by foot.

Why don't you look on Google Maps jdtaylor. Perhaps you can use the little orange man and find a view of this annonymous restaurant. That would give a name to it and might be of a bit more useful!

Think I will have to pay another visit to Southend this year, have not been down there for ages!!
