driver for Kent garden tour

Does anyone have information/recommendations for a driver to conduct my husband and me on a tour of Kent gardens? We would like to see Sissinghurst, Scotney Castle, Chartwell, and perhaps others.

Also, we are interested in visiting Canterbury and possibly some castles in Kent.

We prefer a driver who knows the area and can also suggest smaller gardens we might like.

Thanks very much!

That is a very tall order, maybe that's why no replies as yet. A lot of these gardens are quite a way apart, right in the countryside - definitely approx 15 miles from Canterbury (which doesn't sound much, but in terms of a driver could be a problem).

I could only suggest you plot out some gardens of merit, and visit a few at a time in a specific area with a local taxi driver. Else you are going to pay a fortune for a driver to sit and wait while you enjoy the gardens - and unless you are going to run around these properties, he's going to be sitting there a good couple of hours minimum.

Sissinghurst I have not been to for a while, but I believe it is now so popular that entry is on a timed ticket - you book a time for your visit. Chartwell, with access to the house, you could be there a good 4 hours. There's also Great Dixter, which was the home of Christopher Lloyd, a small garden, but well worth a visit.

I'll have a think of some more, specialist gardens, but also when are you thinking of planning your visit, some of these gardens are reknowned for their spring displays, some summer etc.

Hope I've not thrown a spanner in the works, you never know, there might be a friendly chauffeur out there who also loves gardens.

Oh yes, Castles and Canterbury - Leeds Castle is very popular, near Maidstone, and is an easy drive from there to Canterbury.
