A good honest meal

If you are staying in Clitheroe The Calfs Head in Worston which is only 10 mins away from Clitheroe, is a good place to eat.

The food is resonably priced and very tasty. I live in Clitheroe and when we go out we always go there.

You may need to book or go early as it is always very busy.

They also offer accomendation but I am not sure what it is like.

I agree-ish. It's a bit hit and miss, some of the food is really good some not so great. The staff are always rushed and although I've eaten there quite a few times, silly mistakes have spoilt it e.g having to send a starter back because it wasn't what I ordered. a bit more care needed. The three fishes is much better - never anything wrong!

Trouble with the Three Fishes is they don't take reservations. We turned up the other evening (party of 4, a Friday and early) and the place was heaving with people outside, inside in the bar area and all tables occupied. We enquired about the wait which we were told was 'about an hour, maybe a little more'.

The Inn at Whitewell is excellent - had a great meal there, beautiful location and even saw 'a well known British actor' eating in the bar area!

Hi - has anyone out there been to the Northcote in Langho? We were thinking of booking a 1 night gourmet evening for our anniversary - I wondered if anyone could give me a bit of a lowdown on the place or suggest anywhere you consider better - cheers

Hi,

I will be spending one night at the Calf's Head for a friend's wedding and have got to catch an early train back from Preston or Blackburn the next morning. Can anybody give me a rough idea of how much a cab ride would cost from the pub to preston or blackburn stations?

Thanks!

I would guess at £20 Its at least a £1 a mile so...

You can get a train from Clitheroe to Blackburn (there direct to Manchester services)

Failing that the bus services are quite good to both Blackburn (X225) and Preston
