Alton Towers in October

Hi guys. Wondered if anyone had any experience of how busy Alton Towers is during the school holiday week in October? I see it's opened a lot later so thinking it might be okay.

To give perspective, I was there on a scorching hot Saturday in July and it was busy but not ridiculous (although the queues were pretty long for some things).

Cheers :)

Hi,

October can actually be one of the busiest times to visit due to the very popular halloween event - Scarefest.

Details of this years event havent been released yet (apart from the dates 18th Oct - 2nd Nov) but it usually involves at least 3 live action horror mazes (2 of which cost extra) and lots of less scary activites for the kids.

The rides stay open until 9pm so even though it is busy you can get alot done, stay until the end and the queues will drop drastically and you get to ride in the dark!

Avoid the weekends, weekdays will be sightly quieter and plan the rides/mazes you want to do beforehand and it can be a great time to visit.

Any other questions just ask.

Ah cool, I wondered if they were just opened later because it was school hol, but that explains it! Scarefest, sounds exciting! I'll keep an eye out and see what they announce for it this year. Thanks :)
