Ripoff at Fanny's Restaurant: - Yelapa, Mexico

I just returned from a trip to PV and a day visit to Yelapa. We have a small lunch at one of the waterfront restaurants called Fanny’s. When it came time to pay for the bill it seemed a little inflated. When I asked to see the bill there was an additional charge of 40 Pesos for tax. Unfortunately at the time I did not realize that there is no tax on restaurant meals in PV. I know if not a lot of money but it is the principal and I would have left a nice tip if that hadn’t happened. So I just want to use the power of the Internet to fight back. If you’re going there please tell the waiter what you read on the Internet so he might think twice about ripping you or anyone else off.

There is always a tax on restaurant meals which in PV will be 15%. However, by law, this should be included in menu prices so most people never see it. If the 40 pesos was additional to the sum of the menu prices then you were indeed ripped off. Just occasionally you will see the tax itemized separately but NOT additional to the menu prices (which is fine).

Yes it was a separate additional tax upon the menu prices.
