Motorhome site at Coles Bay

My partner and I would like to visit Freycinet National Park for a couple of nights later this month. We've hired a campervan, but not sure which site would be best to book. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Stuart,

You have a couple of options.

1. for a lovely near beach side camping experience (unpowered) would be at Friendly Beaches, camping in the Freycinet National Park, and a little out of town. Friendly Beaches on a sunny day is stunning.

2. in the town of Coles Bay and located just behind a small shopping area (powered) is Iluka Holiday Centre

There are other small Nat Park camping areas around Coles bay, also there's a choice of camping areas powered and unpowered in Bicheno.

Safe travels - Robert

Thanks so much for the advice Robert, I like the sound of Friendly Beaches so I'll try and book that first.

Best Wishes

Stuart

Yes the beach is stunning, also don't forget you'll need a National Parks pass, the best for visitors is the 8 week vehicle pass -

hi stuart - we've just come back from Tassie this week and we hired a campervan. Loved every moment of it.

Firstly we bought a 2 month NP sticker which really was a bit of a waste, as we only went to 2 NP in the end and would of been cheaper to buy daily passes. so check that out. we didnt stay at any Big4's -they are overpriced IMO. If you want to stay at the powered sites in Freycinet make sure you book ahead as they are usually booked out way in advance. Also make sure you go to Freycinet with petrol tank full as the Coles Bay petrol is a rip off at $2+ per litre. We ended up going back to Bicheno and stayed in a lovely van park right opp the info centre (think called East coast or similar). It was about $32 per night powered site, but well worth it as great location and very clean and most hospitable staff. We went for a lovely walk to the beach track at the night, and a nice quiet drink at the local tavern, and in the morning a fantastic sunrise walk to the 'Whalers lookout' - well worth it. We then went back to Freycinet for the next day and im sure still saved on petrol!!! Wineglass bay track up the mountain is awesome.

hope Ive helped you with some tips.
