Still worth the trip?

I know the main building at PA is under restoration and hence closed.

From my ailing memory there was plenty else to see and do there. Is this still the case. Being July I'm not too fussed about a night tour…

Thanks again folks

It's definitely worth the trip.

Plan to spend an entire morning or afternoon there. Do the guided tour and the cruise to the Island of the Dead.

The ghost tour isn't worth the stay, IMO.

Definitely, and a trip to the Coal Mines is also worth it, less people, and little restriction, less ruin of course.

Nice scenery and drive.

Yes, still plenty else to do. It's only the one big building off limits.

I agree with Luigi, definitely worth another look. The Isle of the dead didn't really do it for me and the Ghost Tour is nothing. In July you might be better served being rugged up in your accomm by the time the tour starts. The guided tour is a must IMO. Enjoy your trip GW

If you stay here, ask for a new waterfront cabin -

Port Arthur definitely still worth it. If it's a while since you've been you'll see a change in the separate prison as thy did a lot of restoration work a couple of years back and rebuilt part of the exercise yard there to give a. Better impression of what it was like. Unlike Luigi, I like the ghost your ;)
