Do the railway and the cruise.

You can go to Ocean Beach and the dunes by yourself. And I simply cannot bring myself to <recommend> that anyone put children on quad bikes.

The best place to eat is Risby Cove and they cater for kids. They're around the cove from the docks a little toward the railway station. However, you might find it a bit expensive. The pub on the Esplanade is family friendly and cheaper.

Hi Kate, IMO with a 7 & 9 year olds, they will love the cruise and dunes as Luigi said, it's up to you guys whether you take the kids on quads.

One thing you must take the kids to, is the play The Ship That Never Was, it's brilliant and the kids and adults will love it, especially the kids. The 2 actors (yes only 2, but you will be surprised) get the kids to play parts in the show, very funny.

I also agree with Risby Cove, but yes it's not cheap, but pretty good though. Have a read of the foody reviews, most are good -

Hope this helps.

Safe travels - Robert

I would ring the library in Queenstown to ask for suggestions of activities for kids in Strahan. Of contact Strahan Primary School and ask their ideas. I would be going to Zeehan to look at the displays there too. The bright young lids of the district volunteer there -might inspire your children re geology and history if you can spare a bit of time to travel over.

gave the kids option of boat cruise or jetboating - they preferred the jetboating and loved it. They were similar ages. Plenty of walks to look at the rainforest. They enjoyed visiting the timber mill and surprisingly the graveyard. The henty dunes are fun with your own cardboard for dune surfing.

The jet boating is a great option for a spin on the Harbour and follows the railway up the King to a Abt Railway Station. Way more fun for Kids & not boring. The Abt Railway is fairly dull for children and takes ALL day. The Ship that Never Was is daily from 5.30pm and is a must see. Eat at the Bushmans Inn above the wharf at the roundabout. Family friendly and affordable compared to other overpriced options in Strahan.
