August 2013, Strahan cruise & railway closed???? now what.

We are travelling for 11 nights doing the Tassie circle in August. Were thinking of staying in Strahan for 2 nights but both the cruise and railway will not be operating. Any other suggestions welcome. We are from Sydney. Is there a cruise somewhere else and we bypass Strahan, or walks (say 2-3hrs) somewhere else, or is it still worth going to Strahan??? We are fairly fit 53 yr old couple. (recent bio-age of husband 46!!! he keeps telling me!!)

Thanks for your suggestions.

Yes, the Wilderness Railway is closed until at least the summer.

There are two cruise operators at Strahan. I think this one is still taking bookings, but you may have to pick a couple of dates to find one with vacancies: http://www.worldheritagecruises.com.au/

Thanks so much, would hate to have missed it.

Looks like Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays are OK, I will work out our itinerary to include this.
