Brewery on the island

Is there a brewery on Kelley's Island? We are heading there the week of July 4th and want to see everything the area has to offer, especially restaurants, wineries, and breweries.

Also, we are thinking of renting bicycles to check out the islands. Is that a good idea?

check out www.kelleysisland.com kelleys is the nice, quiet laid back island.

there is the kelleys island wine co for wine tasting, island cafe and brew pub for beers. bikes are a great way to get around too! (becareful though, if you've really been drinking, you can get a DUI while riding a bike or driving a golf cart, i've seen it happen).

of course, if youre going for your bachelorette party, then look into putinbay as well... many more bars and nightlife, but lots to do during the day too.

Irish, it sounds like Put-in-Bay may not be the place to go with young children. Would you recommend Kelley's Island, or is there another island nearby Sandusky that would be good for a family with young kids?

coco, PiB is great during the day for kids. there is a lot to do there...you can go on the cave tours, go "gem mining" go to the butterfly house, take a tram tour of the island, visit the Perry Monument (though i beleive its closed for the rest of this season due to repairs... they're not sure when they'll have it open again), go to the winery and have fresh grape juice, etc. it's more towards the evening that things get more rowdy with the evening adult crowd. and 90% of the bars are located in one area right downtown. so you know where to avoid if you dont want to go (but none of them are trashy seedy bars, they're all nice).

kelleys is good for kids too, there's just a little less to do. depends on the age of the kids. google both islands to get the their webpages, and you can do a bit of a comparisson. really, either island is good. (no other islands to really visit).

and if you leave on the Jet Express form Downtown sandusky, you can take the ferry to Kelleys, get off and visit for a while, and then take the ferry over to PiB, visit there for a while, and then take the ferry back to Kelleys, and then back to sandusky. it would be a very full day though.
