Vegetarian Or sustainable agriculture restaurants

What are the best vegetarian restaurants in OKC, particularly south OKC, downtown, or midtown? Vegan, too.

Or what about sustainable agriculture restaurants that source locally?

Here is a site that lists vegetarian/vegan/sustainable (green) restaurants and stores:

happycow.net/north_america/…

In my experience OKC is not a vegan hotbed, so while many restaurants serve 'vegan' and vegetarian dishes, I'm not sure I would trust any that didn't serve mostly vegan dishes to do it right.

Good luck!

Local, in Norman, OK: www.eatatlocal.com

Ludavine, downtown/midtown http://ludivineokc.com/

Cool Greens, many metro locations (soup/salad/sandwich chain)

Local is pretty new; I went there for the first time Friday and it was terrific; many vegetarian/vegan options, they serve local produce and the decor is nice as well. I had eggplant parmesan risotto and farmer's salad, which had pickled okra, goat chees, and a grilled peach half in it along with the salad greens.

The menu at both Local and Ludavine vary according to what is available; there is a list of daily specials.

Along with Local(mid range prices) and Mathew Kinneys (High range prices), I would also include the Red Cup off of 30th and Classen. It used to be a coffee shop but is now a cafe. In my opinion the food is much better than the coffee. Don't be expecting much from the service because they are usually both busy and short handed. The food however is great. I've tried half of the menu, which is pretty large, and have not been disappointed by anything I've had. I would suggest the Muy Tres sandwich and a side order of hummus. The hummus is homemade and always fresh.

I like Ludivine for this category - very good, interesting local place. Matthew Kenney is OK but not my fav personally.

Red cup was pretty good! I'll write a review for them, but I would say its good fare for vegetarian or carnivores.

I'm glad you like The Red Cup. I've often thought that unless you told them it was a vegetarian place you could probably "fool" a meat eater into eating there.
