Woolaroc and what else for long weekend in OK?

We live in Wichita, KS, and our family of 4 (kids ages 14 and 7, parents mid-30s) are looking to get away for an upcoming 4 day weekend. I've explored many options and think we might try to explore some areas of OK that we haven't been.

We are pretty familiar with OKC since my best friend lives there and we've been on canoe/camping trips in parts of OK. We haven't spent any time in the Tulsa area.

It seems that Woolaroc would be something we could visit. What else could we combine with a visit to that area? Suggested places to stay? I've done some research but wondered if locals could also provide some information.

Thanks in advance.

If you're going to Woolaroc, you'll be near the Tall Grass Prairie preserve. nature.org/wherewework/…tallgrass.html

And you'll be near Bartlesville, home of Frank Lloyd Wright's only "skyscraper," Price Tower, which is now an art center, a hotel, and a restaurant. http://pricetower.org/

Whenever I'm in Bartlesville, I stay at the Hotel Phillips, which was originally built as apartments for Phillips Petroleum employees but is now a very nice hotel. http://www.hotel-phillips.com/

Tulsa has two good museums--the Philbrook http://www.philbrook.org/ and the Gilcrease http://www.gilcrease.org/ --and central Tulsa is an amazing collection of art deco buildings. tulsalibrary.org/research/…artdecointulsa.php

I second going into Bartlesville and visiting the Price Tower. It is worth the fee to schedule the tour of the building. You can also book an overnight stay there as they have hotel rooms in the Price Tower. When I stayed there about 2 months ago, the room included free entry to Woolaroc.

There are several outfitters who can set you up for a canoe trip (in season, of course) on the Illinois River.

If you enjoy lakes, Grand Lake is worth a visit. Tulsa has a ton of trails for walking, biking, etc., free bikes to ride (need a credit card to access), frisbee golf.

And then there's the Jenks Riverwalk area with the Oklahoma Aquarium, several good restaurants and some shopping; don't think the movie theater is finished yet but is under construction. There's a motel there too, if you want to stay in walking distance. Hope you have a good time in the Tulsa area!
