Bend vs. Hood River in the summer:a dilemma

My family (wife, parents, and brother) are spending almost two weeks in Oregon this summer. So far we have booked 3 nights in Manzanita and 3 nights in Yachats. We are not hard-core hikers, outdoorsmen, fishermen, etc. However, we enjoy light hiking or rafting. We enjoy good food and drink, breweries, wineries, local art, culture, and scenery. Since there are 5 of us we would rather rent a wonderful house as opposed to multiple hotel rooms. The problem is that most nice houses have a 5-day minimum. Based on the above, would you recommend Bend or Hood River? Thanks in advance.

The Mill Inn B&B is a good option (pleasant ambiance, nice innkeeper and very affordable).

Apparently according to a few inns and hotels I have called, the weekend of July 12th is the busiest weekend of the year, so I guess we will just splurge and stat at the Oxford. Thanks again for the help.
