Camping in Bend

We (couple in 50's) will be in Bend for two days at the very end of June as part of our road trip that will take us from Bend on to Crater Lake, Crescent City, then up the OR coast and back to Portland. We'd like to camp in Bend. We tent camp but also have a mini van equipped to sleep in but it is definitely not an RV. We need a place with hot showers and clean bathroom facilities. Can anyone suggest places that have tent camping that are close enough for us to easily drive to town to enjoy dining, breweries, and all that Bend has to offer. Thanks.

Jennie,

Best park for you is Tumalo State Park, just slightly NW of Bend off Hwy 20.

Nice yurts too. Reserve now, gets busy soon.

Best tenting sites are along the Deschutes River, 85-92. Hot showers, nice big day use area and swimming in the river. Very close to Bend and the town of Tumalo has two great pizza places, one on each side of Hwy 20, plus good coffee place too.

http://www.bendistillery.com/ just a little west. Fun place to try vodka, gin and small cocktails.

Also look at La Pine State Park. Much larger but much further south off 97. Not as good for drives in and out of Bend
