Oak Street Hotel

We are planning to stay at the Oak Street hotel during a summer weekend. Will it be too noisy?

Any opinions about the hotel other than noise?

Thank you!

I have never stayed there before, but it is well away from the train tracks and highway. It is on the main street of the town, but even that is just a small two lane road.

A good thing about Oak Street Hotel is that they are right on the edge of downtown, so you can walk to most of the best shopping and dining easily.

Hood River has strange acoustics, even way up in the Heights you can hear the train. Oak Street Hotel is right downtown, great for going out to eat and shop. However if you are there during a First Friday night or when something like Gorge Games are taking place there may be a street party on Oak Street. They usually close down part of Oak from 5-8 or 9 and celebrate, this leads to more people in town for the evening and most likely more street noise at the hotel. I would check with the Hood River Chamber for a schedule of events and plan accordingly. Have fun, don't miss Mike's Ice Cream. DM
